QR Code Scan & Barcode Scanner 3.8
Simplistic and confusing interface
The app launches directly with the code scanner and instructions on the bottom of the screen. There are further tips in the menu, under the help icon but the interface isn't very appealing to users and even the colors that it features suggest it's a bit dated and might need an upgrade.
The top right corner features an icon with suggestions of other apps by the developer. After scanning a code, you can choose to open in the browser or share it with friends on social networks or via email.
Customize the app and scan codes
Some settings may be done before you actually start using the app as a code scanner. You can have it scan 1D barcodes, QR codes or a data matrix. The app may make your phone vibrate or beep after a code is decrypted.
You can also have it store multiple scans of the same barcode in history or copy them to clipboard. Before you start scanning, enable the auto focus feature to make it easier to scan codes or use only standard focus mode. In addition to that, the app lets you select countries in which you'd like to perform product searches.
Create codes
The QR scanner is filled with ads that pop-up every time you want to scan a code. Aside from that, a nagging message to rate the app keeps popping up and the only option of removing it is to actually go on Play Store and review it.
The app claims to help users create QR codes, which is true but you need to take several steps in order to do so. You'll have to tap on the share section, input text or a phone number and tap enter. You can open your contacts list or encrypt an application, but there's no option of saving the code or inputting a logo.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The interface could use an upgrade and maybe a new layout to make it easier for users to create QR codes. |
Function8
It won't scan some codes and has trouble with focusing the image on the screen. |
Security7
It needs many permissions from your phone, but not to location services like other apps. |
Battery8
It was well optimized not to take up too much power, so the app actually consumes less battery than other similar ones. |
Price7
Free of charge, but it's filled with pop-up ads and messages to rate it, together with a whole section for advertising other apps. |
Compatibility8
Devices running Android version 2.3 or later should have any trouble with using this app. |
Frankly, we've seen better.
