Piktures 1.4.4
Piktures does just that but with style, as it comes with an intuitive and lightweight interface combined with plenty of features at hand.
Sleek interface with many tools
The nice thing about this app is that it opens with a tutorial explaining users how to navigate inside the app using gestures and how to access all its features. It also comes with a settings menu which means that it abides by all the standards of a well-developed Android app.
It doesn't need online registration, which means that it doesn't pose any privacy issues but it doesn't offer cloud storage neither, so you wouldn't be able to free up some space on your device. In addition, it could use a feature that would let users hide images on their phone, so that they would be protected from prying eyes.
Organize pictures on your phone
Piktures arranges all photos stored on your phone, it places them into folders accessible if you swipe the screen right. You'll find there thumbnails with all the main folders of pictures on your phone, including the number of photos and videos they contain. It has options for sorting pictures and it supports Chromecast.
You can manage albums and remove them from the list. The app comes with plenty of animation, especially in the home page. It lets you move items to various folders, share them with friends on social networks or remove them from your phone all together. You can also items by pictures or videos, or places in which they were taken provided that they were geotagged.
Calendar view
The app is also great at arranging your pictures in a calendar, based on the day they were taken. It displays all pictures on certain days and opens the slideshow if you tap on them. The app supports Google Cloud Print.
You can also open photos into other apps and edit them or set images as wallpapers or contact photos. In addition, you can have the app enable maximum brightness when viewing pictures or when playing videos.
The app is quite nice considering that it's quite new to the market, but it still need some more work and some extra features and tools.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The interface is really nice with plenty of features at hand and effects for the gallery view. It also comes with instructions and gestures for accessing sections. |
Function8
It's okay but it really needs some more extra features and tools to make it stand out from the crowd. |
Security8
It needs some permissions from your phone but the app shouldn't pose any privacy issues. |
Battery7
Consumption is a relatively high even for a photo editing app, but you shouldn't really worry about the app draining your resources, as it doesn't have the capacity to do so. |
Price10
The app doesn't come with any ads and it's completely free of charge, as it doesn't have in-app purchases. |
Compatibility7
It should work just fine on devices running Android version 4.1 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
A really nice gallery app for your pictures, but it does need some more features and tools.
