Photo Art Frame 1.6

Basic application with dated frames, very few features and nothing artsy about it
Google Play Store is filled with all sort of applications that you can use in order to enhance your pictures before you share them online with friends. Some photo editors are filled with all sort of complex features and tools, while others have very few but nicer tools.

Photo Art Frame is a simplistic and basic app with only a few tools, a bit unstable but with a surprisingly high number of downloads. In fact, even the rating is suspiciously high considering that the app doesn't do much.

Boring and dated UI

The app doesn't launch with a tutorial or any kind of instructions, in fact the first thing that you'll notice when you open the app is the popup ad it displays. The UI is quite dated, it covers all of your screen leaving no space for the notification bar.

It obviously doesn't use material design, it's missing a side menu and even a separate section for displaying output files. But that's not the only thing that the app is missing. It doesn't have any settings or changes that you can do to the boring design or the functionality of the app.

Apply frames to your pictures

We've come across quite a few photo editors, but only a small portion of them were this simplistic. The app has only one feature, that for adding some frames to your pictures or collages. However, it even has trouble with doing that.

The home page is a bit annoying in the sense that it constantly changes the image in the background. You have an icon for loading frames on the bottom of the screen. There's the option to filter frames in accordance to the number of pictures you wish to add.

Many many flaws

It lets you add up to 4 pictures, but the frames are a bit dated and kitschy. Batch selection isn't supported and the app loads other photo viewers on your device in order to open pictures. Each time you tap on one icon, the app loads a popup ad which sometimes causes it to crash.

Moreover it has trouble loading pictures from the camera, it forces users to crop them but not to the size of the frame that you've picked. Therefore, photos will be ill-fitted inside frames.

It lacks any kind of editing tools, it doesn't even come with some filters or effects. The only thing that you can do is to rotate pictures. Users can share output pictures with friends on social networks.
