Avast comes with a full range of features, including virus scanner, removal, protector and even network meter, calculating the amount of incoming/outgoing transfers of data.
It performs scans on the full system or specific folders that you can select, also you may set it to automatically perform scans on certain dates or at certain hours. Avast also scans installed apps and new ones upon first use. Users must manually install anti-theft protection and full backup service, however Avast provides links within the app.
App manager and app locker
Moreover, it's also an app manager and app locker. You can lock apps and block them from turning on automatically. Avast also has a privacy adviser function, it scans apps and lists those that have certain permissions on your phone, like programs that access contacts or messages and those that track your location.
This is truly a useful feature as it helps you understand how intrusive your apps really are and what information they collect. But its ad detector option is only available with premium upgrade.
Filter calls and manage your firewall protection
SMS and Call Filter allows you to block text messages and phone calls from specific groups of contacts. You can schedule calls to be blocked during certain days or hours, making sure you are not bothered.
Avast also comes with its own firewall option, which once enabled, lists all apps and allows you to block them from receiving/sending data via network connections. Tap on one app and Avast displays a full history of system resources, including its size, memory and last usage or permissions and ad detector.
All in all, this app protects against general infections, vulnerabilities and Wi-Fi-based threats to your phone system and automatically scans installed apps, memory card content and new apps upon first use.
