Throughout the day, there are many times when we feel the need to create notes to write down our thoughts or things that we need to remember.

But instead of using a pen and paper and risking to misplace them, why not use an app on your phone. OneNote is more than a notebook, it's digital, offers cloud storage for your files and plenty of other features.

Sleek interface with all features at hand

Before you can start using the app, you'll need to create an account or use your Microsoft profile to log in. Afterwards, you are provided with plenty of instructions and tips to get you started. The app's layout is rather intuitive, with a side menu containing all your lists and notes.

There's a search bar at the top and settings hidden under the 'hamburger' icon. However, the app doesn't offer any options for customizing the interface or advanced settings for enhancing performances. Still, it comes with a very comprehensive section providing tips to new users.

Create all sorts of lists and notes

The app lets you create notes and checklists, plan trips and parties, make shopping and to-do lists. You can even insert or take pictures to add to notes or use the digital pen to draw or write down your thoughts and thinks to remember.

But the app comes with few features for doing so. Basically, the app provides you with an open slate to create whatever files you like, without having you select them beforehand. While you're writing, you can add boxes for checking out items or write text using your digital pen.

Sync notes or add them to your home screen

Users have the option of syncing notes instantly and thus uploading them to their cloud account. This would make them available across multiple devices and would even provide the option of sharing and editing them in real time. You can move or copy pages between notebooks or sections.

In addition, you can set the app to only sync files on Wi-fi connection, to avoid using precious mobile data. You can also add a note to the home screen to make it more visible. OneDrive also comes with home screen widgets, to let you edit and create files without launching the app itself.
