Google Maps
Now, the app is constantly updated with features and locations being one of the top applications for exploring new locations or navigating in a given city. The popularity of Google Maps is hard to deny and that's why developers constantly work on improving the app for it to reach its full potential.
Intuitive interface with all features at hand
Google Maps is pre-installed on many Android devices, such as smartphones and tablets and needs your Google account in order to work. It provides users with a side menu on the left and the home screen is reserved for displaying the map.
Enable your location services to have the app pinpoint you on the map. You can search for certain locations by typing in the address or city in the search bar or using the built-in TTS feature. The app also comes with a help section that includes all sort of instructions and tips to help you navigate better.
Explore locations from all over the world
Google Maps lets you use multiple accounts in the app. The map comes in multiple formats, including traffic mode that shows you the most crowded roads and streets that you should avoid because of traffic jams.
It also has a public transit mode and may display bicycle lanes, but only in certain cities. Satellite view is also available and it's one of the most popular modes, aside from terrain. The app also has a link to Google Earth's website or application, if you've installed it on the phone.
Navigate to any addresses
You can add your home and work addresses to make it easier to enable the navigation feature and get traffic assistance to your location. You can adjust the volume of the assistant's voice or mute it all together.
The app lets you adjust distance units and estimates the time it would take you to get to a certain location. It also takes traffic conditions into consideration and it gets its updated information from Waze.
It also provides you with alternative routes, coordinates of the destination and the option to choose from walking, driving or using public transport to get there. You can quickly access restaurant or flight reservations made with your Gmail account, under the 'my events' section.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The interface is really nice, with a side menu that gives you access to the different map modes and plenty of space on the screen to actually display the map. |
Function9
It works just fine, but it's not fully reliable so drivers should take that into consideration especially if they're using the navigation mode. |
Security8
It uses some of the Google+ information if you log in, but it won't pose any privacy issues. |
Battery6
Google Maps is known for taking up a lot of resources, so keep your phone charged in when using the app. |
Price10
The app is completely free of charge, it doesn't come with any ads or in-app purchases. |
Compatibility8
The developer didn't mention Android versions compatible with this app, but it should work on a whole array of devices. |
One of the best apps out there, but it takes up a lot of battery and mobile data.
