    Acer debuts Liquid series of smartphones

    Computer maker Acer has announced its new smartphone “Liquid” series, a Qualcomm Snapdragon-based handset that runs under Google's Android operating system. The new device comes to the market with a WVGA touchscreen display, includes the powerful 1GHz processor from Qualcomm and sports the Donut flavor of Android (1.6). The feature list of Acer's Liquid smartphone also includes improved power management to help achieve longer battery autonomy for intense users; a new user interface with easy access to entertainment and web bookmarks; an optimized camera with geo-tagging, ISO, self-timer options and accelerated auto-focus performance; exclusive Spinlets application providing free streaming of worldwide music and video, that can be shared with friends and family through web-posting or e-mail; smart integration of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Picasa and Flickr in the address book, with real-time notification of status or content updates. Unfortunately, no details on the handset's availability emerged.

    Samsung's second 12 MP phone hits the market in October

    South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics introduces its first 12-megapixel camera phone that sports 3x optical zoom lens, the Samsung AMOLED 12M (aka SCH-W880). According to the company, the new handset is set to come to the market in Korea in early October, and no details on a possible availability outside the country have been unveiled. The Samsung AMOLED 12M comes with the latest advancements in the camera technology field, as well as with a 3.3-inch AMOLED full-touch display that boasts a WVGA 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Other specs of the new handset also include Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 HS (micro USB) connectivity, support for WCDMA (2100 MHz), GSM(900), DCS(1800), PCS(1900) Roaming, DMB (Mobile TV), 4GB of internal memory, a MicroSD memory card slot with support for 32GB of additional storage space, and a 1,100 mAh battery. No details on its pricing have been unveiled so far.
